Feeling Good Friday

TGIF!!!  Today, like you I am happy that the weekend is approaching.  However, with the office being an ice box and outside 85 degrees the question becomes....What the heck am I going to wear to work?  I never know what the hubby wants to do after work, so I need something that is functional for the office, my errands (on lunch), and after work.... What are you wearing for Friday?

Five Must Haves for Men

President Barack Obama changed the game when it came to utilizing a powerful tool of influence: social media. Since his successful 2008 bid for the U.S. presidency, he has held a prominent role, using social networking as a way to reach the masses, gain support, and create one of the most transparent presidencies in history. Here's a look at his social media presence, and how his administration has successfully leveraged it as a vital resource. --- Janell Hazelwood
1. A great suit.  Preferable black or dark blue. Normally, I would say that price doesn't matter, but in this case I'm sorry guys it does. Everyone can spot a cheap suit, so plan to invest in a quality suit.. I would however, say if you are going for an interview bring out that ARMANI suit. If you already have the job then the Sean Jean from Burlington Coat Factory is fine:) If you can't afford Armani then get a dark suit and take it to get it tailored.  This will make a HUGE difference.
2. Cuff links. If you don't own a pair take a trip to a department store.
3. Prada shoes...OK it doesn't have to be Prada, but a nice pair of shoes.  No marks or scuffles  The shoes tell everything about a man. So take the time to try on shoes with your interview suit. Ask the opinion of the department store clerk for advice,if you want that job.
4. The man purse....OK Ok, I mean a BRIEF CASE... Ditch that old back pack and splurge for a nice bag that you can put your resume in along with your notes for questions. Plus you look smarter.
5. Accessories...A dress watch not the one you wear to the gym it doesn't have to be a Rolex ,but Kenneth Cole will do the trick. An engraved pen, this will set a part the men from the boys, and a day planner.

When to Update your Wadrobe

You know you need to update your wardrobe when;

1. You clothes have holes in them or have out grown them.
2. When you are still wearing the same clothes in the same season. Example, winter clothes in the summer, fall clothes in the spring.
3. When the colors are starting to fade.
4. If your shoes are run down and wobbly.
5. When you don't feel comfortable or happy when you get dressed.

How do you know when you need to update your wardrobe?
For me its when I no longer feel good about what I am wearing. Meaning, I wore this outfit entirely way too many times. Or this shirt is not flattering because, I washed the color out and it's faded from washing.  Dish

Fashion Trends - To Follow or Not

PUMPED UP photo | Halle Berry

Do you think its a good  or bad idea to follow fashion trends?  My opinion is that, following trends can get you into trouble. For example, hair styles change pretty frequently. First, its weaves, natural, short, symmetric etc. Sometimes trends come in and out so fast that you can get caught in the wrong trend...So what is a girl to do? I say, only follow the trend if its timeless...Yes timeless..Halle Berry comes to mind when I think of timeless hairstyles.  She can take and short hair cut and start a new trend while her peers are weaving their hair.  My real question is what happens when you get stuck in a trend?  Eighties hair styles, the mullet? I bet you know someone sitting in your office right now with one..How do we get those people to come into the millennium?  Is it realistic to believe that their hair or wardrobe isn't affecting their work?

Happy Fourth of July!! And Happy Afro Day!!

Oh course everyone is aware that today is the Fourth of July, Happy Happy, but it's also Natural Fro Day!!
Natural Fro Day is for anyone with natural hair, mostly African American women that are natural ,as myself.  So basically, all the natural women wear there hair out in an Afro.  I normally wear my hair up in the summer to minimize frizzy hair and shrinkage, but I may wear it out.  Here is a Pict of my new signature hair style as it changes frequently. Enjoy your day!!
